Index of Names
The Old North Burying Ground is found on Main St. / Rte 133 in Ipswich, MA. It was established in 1634, the same year the Town of Ipswich was established and is the oldest burying ground in that town. See it's location and get directions at Yahoo Maps. Erected to the Memory of Colo Isaac Dodge who was Born March 9th 1733, died June 27th 1785 In the 53d year of his age And of Mrs Elisabeth, his wife who Was born March 10th 1730 & died Sept 22d 1785 In the 56th year of her age His mind was open, ardent, and enterprizing He was a kind huban, a tender indulgent Father In his houe he was Liberal & hopitable Faithful to his trut, upright in his intentions, In his operations Active, perevering and extenive; By which he afforded Employment and ubitance to the indutrious and the indigent; Contributed to the benefit of the publick And merited the Character of a Ueful and valuable member of ociety His Wife was moral, thoughtfuls and ofar as her lender health would permit Attentive to the benefit & happines of her family. Deeply affected by the death of her huband And the increaing infirmities of her feeble contitution, She languih'd and three months after him Expir'd Short was there eperation, oon rejoin'd In the dark grave, to native dut conign'd They leep till death his human prey retore, And earth & kies & time hall be no more.
