Harrington,) who Departed
this Life Febr. 27th 1776. In
the 23d year of her age.

William Reed Esq.
Built this Toom in the year 1771.

Within this tomb are Interred the 
Remains of WILLIAM REED Esqr. who for 20
years was a Representative of this Town and a 
Justice of ye peace for ye County; and in various
other Respects, frequently Employed & import
antly useful; in this Town & ye publick: And with
the greatest Truth it may be said, that in this
worthy man, ye Virtues of ye Husband, the parent, ye
Christian & ye firm friend to his Country, appeared
thro' a Long Life, in an amiable point of Light.
Having served his Generation, according to the
will of God, yealded up ye Ghost on ye 11 day
of Febr. A, Dom. 1778. In ye 85th year of his age.
Leaving ten children & one hundred Grand &
great Grand Children, to lament his Death.
Mark the perfect man & Behold the upright.
Psal. 37.37.

Also in this Tomb are the Remains of Mrs
SARAH REED the wife of WILLIAM REED Esq
who, for Maternal Tenderness, peaceful Dis
position, Meekness of Spirit, Prudence in Af
fairs, Piety to God, Charity to ye Necessitous,
and other Graces & Virtues, which rendered 
her both amiable & useful in Life, was an
Ornament to her sex. She rested from her
Labours & fell asleep in Jesus on ye 25th day
of Novr. A. Dom. 1769. Being 70 years of age.

HAMMOND REED, son of WILLIAM and SARAH
POULTER REED, born April 28, 1734, died July 12, 1817.
He was one of Capt. Parker's Company which
opposed the British on Lexington Common
April 19, 1775. He was a member of the Committee
of Safety, 1778, and held many positions of honor
and trust in the town during the most important
period of our history.

His wife BETTY, daughter of JOSHUA and
HANNAH POULTER SIMONDS born January 22, 1732,
died February 2, 1815.
